About Taylor J London MMus, BMus(Hons), ARSM

TaylorJLondon.jpg

Taylor J London is an English soprano based in Helston, Cornwall, who splits her time between performing, teaching, and directing her two choirs. A graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, where her studies were generously supported by the Laurin & Arthur Glaze Trust and the William and Frances Dobie Charitable Foundation, Taylor brings exceptional academic and artistic credentials to everything she does.

Taylor's operatic experience spans a rich and varied repertoire. Her roles include Aunt Norris in Dove's Mansfield Park, Ida in Strauss' Die Fledermaus, and a Hen in Janáček's The Cunning Little Vixen. On the concert platform, she has performed Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle in France, travelled to Norway to celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, and appeared at the BBC Proms in the landmark 2001: A Space Odyssey programme (Prom 36), performing Ligeti's Requiem — one of the most technically demanding works in the contemporary choral canon.

Taylor has benefitted from masterclasses with some of the most distinguished figures in the vocal world, including Dame Ann Murray, Professor David Owen Norris as part of the prestigious Smallwood Masterclass Series, and Jasdeep Singh's cross-school residency exploring Indian classical music. She has also performed Steve Reich's Desert Music at the Bridgewater Hall with The Hallé Orchestra, under the baton of Colin Currie.

2026 has already been a busy and exciting year. Taylor performed Vivaldi with the East Cornwall Bach Choir, brought the role of Solveig to life at Truro Cathedral in the Truro Choral Society and Truro Philharmonia's production of Peer Gynt, and conducted the Culdrose Military Wives Choir at the magnificent Minack Theatre.

Looking ahead, the summer promises to be equally full: in between conducting her choirs performing at numerous concerts, Taylor takes the lead role in Duchy Opera's production of The Merry Widow, performs as soloist in Truro Choral Society's Requiem, and rounds off the year as soloist in Helston Choral Society's candlelit Christmas performance.

Alongside her performing career, Taylor is a dedicated vocal coach offering one-to-one singing lessons from her Helston studio, tailored to students of all levels and ambitions. She is Musical Director of the Culdrose Military Wives Choir and leads Hayle Local Vocalz — a vibrant, inclusive community choir that celebrates the joy of singing for all.

From the BBC Proms to the Minack Theatre, Taylor brings the same commitment and artistry to every performance — and the same warmth and expertise to every student she teaches. A nationally performing soprano with a busy and varied local presence, she is a musician who is equally at home building choral communities as she is performing on the concert stage.
